Research entitled Farmers Responses to the Use of Rice Straw as Organic
Mulch in Watermelon Cultivatition in Rongga Koe Vilage, East Manggarai Regency,
Was conducted in August- September 2020 in Mekar 1 and 2 farmers groups in
Rongga Koe Vilage, Komba City District, East Manggarai Regency. The aim of this
study is to determine the response of farmers to the use of rice straw use organic
mulch and to find out what factors influence the farming community in responding to
organic mulch tecnology.
Research includes knowledge and attitudes measured in aspects related to
farmers, level of education and length of farming. The population of this study was
the Mekar 1 and 2 farmer groups, which included 65 people and made the sample,
namely the farmer groups with a total of 39 people.
The results of the analysis show that the response of farmers to organic rice
straw mulch technology is in the high category, with an average scoreof 2,60. Based
on the the results of the analysis using the Speraman Rank Correlation Test formula,
it shows that age, education level, suitability do not have a significant relationship.
While thr length of farming and area have a significant relationship with the response
of farmers as organic mulch in watermelon cultivation.
