Betel (Piper betle) is a native Indonesian plant that grows vines or leans on other tree trunks. The betel plant has the benefits of the leaves and fruit. Betel fruit is widely used by the people of NTT as chewing food, but betel fruit cannot last more than 3-4 days, therefore it needs post-harvest handling and packaging that can extend the shelf life of the betel fruit. The research aims: (1) To determine the effect of different packaging materials on the quality of the betel fruit during the shelf life. (2) Obtain packaging materials that can maintain the best betel fruit quality during the shelf life. This research was conducted in September 2020 at the Plant Protection Laboratory. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with an experimental method. The results showed that the packaging of betel fruit with the type of coconut leaf woven box, palm leaf woven box and bamboo woven box affected the storage of betel fruit during the shelf life, namely 7 HSS and 14 HSS. The results of statistical tests showed that the packaging of betel fruit with woven boxes of fresh banana leaf filler had the best results on the quality of the betel fruit during its shelf life. The conclusions of this study were (1) The packaging of betel fruit with various treatments had a significant effect on texture, moisture content, changes in weight, color and aroma during the storage period. (2) woven boxes filled with fresh banana leaves show the best results during storage. Key words: Wicker box, filling material, storage, betel fruit
