PRODUKSI DAN DAYA DUKUNG LIMBAH PERTANIAN SEMUSIM SEBAGAI SUMBER PAKAN LOKAL BAGI TERNAK RUMINANSIA DI KECAMATAN AESESA KABUPATEN NAGEKEO

The objectives of this study are: 1) to know the types of agricultural waste in
Aesesa District; 2) to analyze the production of agricultural waste as feed for
ruminants in a year; and 3) to know the carrying capacity of agricultural waste
produced for ruminants. This research was conducted in Aesesa District, Nagekeo
Regency from July to August 2020. The analysis of dry matter of the agricultural
waste was carried out at the Laboratoty of Nutrition and feed, Kupang State
Agricultural of Polytechnic. The observed variables in this study are: 1) the types of
agricultural waste; 2) the production of agricultural waste as feed for ruminants in a
year; and 3) the carrying capacity of agricultural waste produced for ruminants. The
methods of data collected were survey, interviews, and measurements using a square
frame of 1 m x 1 m. The obtained data were analyzed by calculating the amount of
agricultural waste production, analyzing the carrying capacity of agricultural waste
and testing the dry matter content at the Laboratory of Animal Nutrition and Feed,
State Agricultural Polytechnic of Kupang. The results of the analysis are then
presented descriptively, quantitatively and qualitatively. This study concluded that
the types of agricultural waste that can be used as a source of local feed in Aesesa
District are rice straw, corn straw and cassava waste. The average production of
agricultural waste for Aesesa District, represented by the four sample villages, is
76,63 tonnes/year of fresh material and 5,42 tonnes/year of dry matter. The carrying
capacity of agricultural waste produced in the form of dry matter is 2,00 ST/ha /year.
