<note>This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Moringa leaf meal supplementation
and synthetic amino acids in the ration on the growth performance of broiler chickens
(0-42 days). This research has been carried out in colony cages and mini feed
factories belonging to the Kupang State Agricultural Polytechnic campus. The
number of chickens used in the study was 180 birds, each of which was placed into
18 cage plots which were randomized into 6 treatments and 3 replications. Each cage
has 10 chickens. The experimental design used was a factorial completely
randomized design with the main factors being the level of Moringa leaf meal (0%,
5%, and 7.5%) and the second factor of amino acids (with and without).
The treatments given were 0% Moringa Leaf Flour (MLF) without amino acid
(A); 0% MLF with amino acids (B); 5% MLF without amino acids (C); 5% MLF
with amino acids (D); 7.5% MLF without amino acid (E); and 7.5% MLF with amino
acids (F). The variables measured were feed consumption, body weigt gain and Feed
Conversion Ratio (FCR).
The result shows that the inclusion level of moringa leaf meal (MLM)
significantly (P<0,05 - 0.01) to affected the feed intake and body weight gain; but, it
did not affect the feed conversion ratio of broilers during the 42 days experiment.
Amino Acid (AA) supplementation did not affect (P>0,05) the growth performance
of broilers during the trial. Interaction between MLM x AA was not significant
(P>0,05) on all variables measured.
During the trial, feed intake and body weight gain of broilers fed 7,5%
MLM were higher (P<0,05) than those who were given diets containing 0 and 5 %
MLM. In conclusion 1) the inclusiom level of 5 and 7.5% % in the diets resulted in
better growth performance 2) The supplementation of AA did not improve the growth
performance of broilers during 42 days experiment; 3) combination between MLM x
AA did give positive impact on the growth performance of broilers</note>
