# Desa Fatulotu merupakan salah satu Desa dari 7 Desa yang berada di Kecamatan Lasiolat Kabupaten Belu dimana wilayah Desa ini berbatasan langsung dengan Republik Demokratik Timor Leste(RDTL). Kehidupan masyarakat desa Fatulotu lebih mendominasi pada masyarakat yang bermata pencaharian sebagai petani. Dengan demikian masyarakat tani desa Fatulotu memanfaatkan potensi alam yang ada untuk berbagai kegiatan usaha tani salah satu potensi alam yang memfasilitasi kegiatan usahatani masyarakat desa Fatulotu yakni Abat. Abat (hutan adat) merupakan kawasan utama yang menjadi sumber penghasil kebutuhan usaha tani dimana kawasan abat terdapat sumber mata air untuk proses pengairan pada berbagai macam komoditi usaha tani disekitar abat tersebut. Seiring berjalannya waktu kawasan abat sudah minim untuk dimanfaatkan atau dikelolah, melainkan yang terjadi kawasan abat yang dahulunya dirawat sekarang dirusak oleh masyarakat tanpa adanya tindaklanjut perbaikan.Dengan adanya masalah yang ditemui pada kehidupan masyrakat tani diDesa fatulotu tersebut maka tujuan penelitian ini sebagai tindakan yang memberikan informasi untuk menyadari manfaat penting dari kawasan abat dan pengetahuan kepada masyarakat tani sekitar abat untuk merawat potensi abat sebagai kebutuhan usaha tani yang terus berkelanjutan. Maka dengan berbagai metode penelitian dan pendekatan yang dilakukan peneliti memperoleh hasil penelitian dimana berbagai faktor yang mempengaruhi pola hidup masyarakat tani sekitar abat yakni sistem sosial masyarakat, pengalaman bertani, akses informasi serta keterlibatatan penyuluh terhadap masyarakat yang belum maksimal, sehingga dengan adanya pendekatan dari peneliti terhadap masyarakat tani yang telah berlangsung dapat mengubah pola pikir masyarakat tani sekitar abat menjadi lebih baik dari sebelumnya. # Fatulotu Village is one of seven villages located in the Lasiolat district of Belu, which borders directly with the Democratic Republic of Timor￾Leste.(RDTL). The life of the Fatulotu village is more dominant than that of the peasant society. Thus, the village of Fatulotu farmers utilize the potential of nature for various activities of farmers, one of the natural potential that facilitates the activities of the community of Fatalotu village is Abat. Abat (native forest) is the main area that is the source of yield for the needs of the farmers where the area of abat there is a source of water for irrigation processes on various commodities of farm enterprises around the abat. As time passes, the abat area has been minimal to be used or treated, except that the area that was previously treated is now damaged by the community without any contin ued improvement. With the problems encountered in the life of the farmers in the Fatulotu Village, the purpose of this research is to provide information to realize the important benefits of the abbey area and knowledge to the village community around the Abbey to treat the potential of the abat as the need for a sustainable farm enterprise. Then with various methods of research and approaches carried out the researchers obtained the results of the research where various factors that affect the life patterns of the peasantry around the abbey are the social system of the community, the experience of agriculture, access to information and the involvement of the scientists towards the society is not maximum, so that with the existence of the approach of the researcher to the community that has been taking place can change the mindset of peasants around the Abbey to better than ever before.
